Most parents choose not to take their children to school as schooling is more costly as compared to the cost of keeping the children at home. Most of the families in the slums have children of the ages between 4 and 8 years, which most of them should be in the pre – school but because their parents feel that they will strain for their basic needs which includes, clothing, food and shelter the children remain in the houses. This has made most of the parents to consider education of their children as not a necessity due to lack of proper income.
We have purposed to have high quality intervention program that includes many of the theoretically recognized elements of quality education programs, such as regular academic-oriented activities for children, a rich learning environment, qualified teachers, and home visits to enhance parenting strategies for adults. The Grace School program includes a weekday morning school routine combined with weekly home visits by program staff.
The school is having pre-school, class one to class three in primary section and we hope to continue in other classes as we progress.
The Pre-School has children aged 2-6 years. The classes are divided into baby care, baby class, Nursery and pre-unit and the classrooms provide purposeful, bright and stimulating learning environment.
